Donna’s Slack Tips…
So, I’m not a certified Slack expert or anything, but I do like it (I already told you that). Besides streamlining our communications, we’ve discovered a few Slack hacks that are helping us get even more from the tool.
Here are a few that might help you, too:
Using “@channel” in a message will alert all the people in the channel. Using “@everyone” will send an alert to every person on the team. Use sparingly!
An easy way to make a to-do list using Slack:
“Star” any item you’d like on your to-do list (next to the poster’s name/time there is a small star you can click)
To see your starred items in a list, go to https://YOURSLACKTEAM.slack.com/stars
You can “un-star” them in the list when they’re complete.
To add items to your own list, send a direct messages to the Slackbot and then star the item. The slackbot DM is used as your personal scratch pad.
Conclusion: Once you get comfortable with using Slack, there are some fun things you can do to make it more effective for your team.
